FanFaire Post-Op

Posted: August 6, 2007 by Kendricke in Everquest 2

I’ll be posting up a grand litany of articles about specific games, features, and other items from the SOE FanFaire.  Here’s a quick short list of some of my favorites:

  • Guild Halls are coming!!!  Modular design and status lock seem to be in.  Wonder where I’d heard of such things….
  • The Agency looks fun.  Expect us to open a L.E.G.I.O.N chapter there (gonna have to be U.N.I.T.E.).
  • I was pretty happy to see that Legends of Norrath was finally announced formally.  I pointed out this game a while back  on Warcry, and was unable to speak to the game till after FanFaire.  On Saturday, a few of my guildmates and I spent some time running through the tutorials and playing a few rudimentary games.
  • Rise of Kunark is fun (got to play it for about 2 hours unhindered, along with several guildmates).
  • VERY excited about new character model revamps.  Everything from separate toes and fingers to actual cut out ears, nostrils, and even belly buttons.  Apparently the time to create new armor will drop from months to days once this goes live.  Got some great video of the new model in action.
  • Not as excited about Gods and Heroes anymore.
  • Mini-Maps coming eventually.
  • Clothing overlay coming “soon”. Basically, it’s a way to wear gear that looks one way, and put on clothing that looks determines your “look”.  I’m not sure if I like it yet, but it’s still being “discussed”.
  • Fear and Hate are coming back – titled Shard of Fear and Shard of Hate, you’ll be able to see a portion of the planes. The Fear instance will be heroic (think Nizara/Unrest) while Hate will be raid level.
  • Unrest will be going persistant soon. Other zones being looked into.
  • New soul shard system coming – house item you can use to save/load Achievement “sets”. Go home to switch to your solo achievements, then go home again later before the raid to switch to raid achievements.

That’s a quick overview of some of the items you can expect me to spend the next week or so analyzing here.  Till then, it’s herbal tea and lots of chicken soup to get back on my liver’s good side.

You’re always near the top of the list for anticipated faces, Steve. I’m glad we got to spend so much time hanging out this time.
